Newest addition to the Toraiz series, the Squid Multitrack Sequencer is the heartbeat of your studio and live setups giving you control over hardware instruments, synthesizers, drum machines, samplers and your DAW in one slick unit.

Squid allows you to sequence unique patterns and phrases on the spot, making it perfect for on-the-fly music production. This production hub allows you to randomize sounds, sequences, and drums, with polyrhythmic-looping options and instant control of playback direction and speeds.

The Toraiz Squid has a 4x4 pad layout which can handle 16 tracks of 64 patterns with 64 steps and up to 8 notes of polyphony per step. These tracks can be routed through 2 MIDI outputs, 2 lots of CV/Gate or via USB. With the USB, you can connect Squid to a computer where you can control VSTs and a DAW.

You can connect, sync and simultaneously control up to 16 instruments via its multiple input/outputs.

Main features of the Toraiz Squid Multitrack Sequencer include:

  • 16 multicoloured LED pads with multiple functions
  • Various sequence functions: Interpolation & Harmoniser
  • Performance features: Running Direction, Speed Modulation & Groove Bend
  • Arrange phrases in real time
  • Time Warp feature to recall patterns
  • Connect, synth and control up to 16 instruments
  • USB B terminal, MIDI terminals, 2 sets of CV/Gate outputs, and Clock and DIN Sync input/output terminals
  • Combine the power of your DAW with modern, modular and vintage synths, as well as drum machines
  • Signals are converted automatically
  • Quickly transfer sequence patterns, projects and MIDI clips between the SQUID and your PC or Mac with the SQUID Manager function
  • Easily import a sequence pattern created on your DAW to the SQUID, instinctively arrange it using the sequencer’s features, and return it to your DAW

16 MULTICOLORED LED PADS for Trigger mode, step-record patterns, scale mode and velocity

INTERPOLATION helps you instantly make phrases. Set each parameter for the beginning, middle, and end of the steps and quickly assign the pitch and dynamics to bring your idea to life

HARMONIZER allows you to assign up to 6 chords to buttons, record chord compositions into steps, and intuitively build evolving phrases

TRANSPOSE MODE to instantly adjust the mood of a phrase or rapidly raise the pitch of a step

CC MODE allows you to manipulate up to 5 of your external device’s CC controls. Assign a handful of MIDI CC numbers and then step sequence them in one place.

RANDOMIZER randomly changing the parameters of a step to alter the phrase and get new ideas from there. SQUID will individually randomize the trigger On/Off, pitch, gate, velocity, and CC mode control values. In addition to the normal sporadic sounds, trigger On/Off and pitch incorporate a more musical randomization thanks to the Euclidean algorithm – perfect for when you want to quickly generate phrases

PATTERN SET MODE Immediately save a combination of patterns created by each track and use it to conveniently check the rough composition of your music

CHORD MODE lets you touch one of the 16 pads to trigger a perfect chord. The Pioneer SQUID knows 18 chord sets and its in-built knowledge of chord progressions will help you create incredible music

ARRANGE PHRASES IN REAL TIME Rearrange phrases you’ve created in the Step Edit section to craft your ideas the instant they spring to mind. Enhance your sounds with performance features, such as Running Direction, Speed Modulation, and Groove Bend

SPEED MODULATION Fluctuate the playback speed of sequence patterns. Switch between 6 waveform shapes, such as triangle and sawtooth, and adjust the rate and amount

RUNNING DIRECTION Create multiple new phrases from 1 sequence pattern by changing its playback direction. Try the unique Zigzag or Clockwise directions via the SQUID’s 4 x 4 pads. Experience 48 different playback directions by combining Reverse, Switch Back, and Flip with the 6 different Running Directions

GROOVE BEND is the first-ever function on a sequencer to change trigger timing in real time via a slider. Manipulate the slider to delay, accelerate and develop grooves as if you’re playing a musical instrument

RHYTHMIC CONTROL Tap the Rhythm button to loop a portion of any pattern. Or activate Trigger Probability to adjust the chance of a note dropping. Combine this with other features to intuitively create new phrases, rhythms and fill-ins

SPEED CONTROL changes the speed of sequence playback in real time, so you can intuitively create slow or rapid phrases. Simply hold down the button to double or halve the speed

MELODIC CONTROL lets you use the Scale knob and Arpeggiator to change the scale and key of a pattern. The Pioneer SQUID automatically corrects the pitch of the pads (steps) according to the scale and keys set, so adjusting the mood is effortless

SAVE YOUR “HAPPY ACCIDENTS” Pioneer SQUID records performance information in the background so you’ll never lose phrases you create accidentally. When you’re experimenting and hear something you love, use the Time Warp feature to recall and save it as a sequence pattern for your next track

CONNECT VARIOUS INSTRUMENTS USB B terminal, MIDI terminals, 2 sets of CV/Gate outputs, and Clock and DIN Sync input/output terminals. This means you can combine the power of your DAW with modern, modular and vintage synths, as well as drum machines. Signals are converted automatically

IMPORT AND EXPORT FAST Quickly transfer sequence patterns, projects and Midi clips between the SQUID and your PC or Mac with the SQUID Manager function. Easily import a sequence pattern created on your DAW to the SQUID, instinctively arrange it using the sequencer’s features, and return it to your DAW
